Wallpaper Glue by Robin Sprong
Paste for paper-backed, non-woven, fabric based and vinyl wallpapers
SURFACE PREPARATION:
Remove old wallpapers using wallpaper remover. The surface has to be dust-free, clean, dry and solid. Wall must be free of separating agents such as grease or dust. Fill cracks and holes. Pretreat walls and highly absorbent or sanding surfaces using a universal undercoat (recommended).
MIXING THE ADHESIVE AND APPLICATION:
Pour contents of No#1 into clean 5L bucket of cold water while stirring vigorously and continue to stir for a short time as the paste thickens and activates.
After 10 minutes sprinkle contents of No#2 into the mixture while stirring.
Leave for approximately 5 minutes then stir again before applying to wallpaper or wall.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Measure the wall(s) to be wallpapered and cut the wallpaper sheets to the appropriate length, allowing for a bit of extra length at the top and bottom to allow for adjustments. Ensure that you have factored in your wallpaper repeat/pattern.
- Apply a thin layer of wallpaper paste to the back of the first wallpaper sheet using a brush or roller, making sure to cover the entire surface of the sheet. Make sure to apply enough paste to the edges and corners of the sheet.
- Fold the sheet gently in half, with the paste sides touching, and carefully carry it over to the wall. Align the top edge of the sheet with the level or plumb line to ensure it is straight.
- Unfold the sheet and smooth it onto the wall using a wallpaper smoothing tool or your hands, making sure to remove any air bubbles or wrinkles. Use a clean damp sponge or cloth to gently wipe off any excess paste.
- Repeat the process with the remaining sheets, making sure to match up the patterns and edges as needed.
- Trim any excess wallpaper from the edges using a sharp pair of scissors or a wallpaper trimming tool.
- Allow the wallpaper to dry completely before hanging any decorations or furniture.
Note: It is important to follow the manufacturer’s instructions for both mixing the wallpaper paste and applying the wallpaper sheets. Be sure to work carefully and patiently to ensure a smooth and even application.
APPLY TO PAPER:
Lay the wallpaper sheets on a drop sheet and paste the back of the wallpaper. Once the paper has been pasted fold ends inwards to allow for an adequate soaking time.
Then begin to hang the papers. Ensure the paste does not come into contact with the printed side of the wallpaper.
APPLY TO WALL:
Apply the paste directly to the wall area where the paper is about to be hung, then continue sheet by sheet.
