Patruschka is an illustrator and surface-pattern designer from the Netherlands with a degree in literature and fine art. Her work grows out of a love for narrative folk art, fairy-tale worlds, and nature. She draws inspiration from long walks and the stories hidden in landscapes, flowers, trees, birds, and animals, creating detailed collections designed to feel like little worlds you can step into.
Alongside her design practice, Patruschka teaches Visual Art at an international teacher-training institute, where she helps future educators explore creativity, visual storytelling, and playful experimentation. She creates collections for licensing across fabric, home décor, stationery, and children’s products, always focusing on story, emotion, and a touch of magic.
Linocut Birds is a collection of bird designs created in the linocut tradition. Every bird carries a distinct character. Birds of prey feel bold and powerful, ravens evoke mystery and a dark, magical edge, godwits suggest freshness and freedom, and paradise flycatchers bring a sense of grace and elegance. The artist used these qualities as the foundation for the collection. The designs are made to have a timeless, handcrafted, rustic feel, while still making a strong visual statement.
